NWHM will host a viewing of the Oscar-nominated movie Selma, followed by a brief discussion. Afterwards, we'll talk about women's roles in the Civil Rights Movement as well as how they are remembered in popular history.
The event will be held at the Martha Washington Library in Alexandria, VA. Popcorn and drinks will be included! We'll be in the library's large meeting room, but if you can't find us, just ask at the information desk.
Synopsis: Selma chronicles Martin Luther King's campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.
