Join the National Women's History Museum and Honorary Chairs, the Honorable Senators Susan Collins and Barbara Mikulski, and Representatives Carolyn Maloney, Marsha Blackburn, and Candice Miller for the fourth annual de Pizan Honors, an event paying tribute to women from the past and present. The Honors will take place on November 17, 2014 at the The Mead Center for American Theater, Arena Stage, in Washington, D.C.
The esteemed honorees for the evening are:
- The Honorable Sally Jewell (Secretary of the Department of the Interior) will receive the Rachel Carson Living Legacy Award
- Katherine Johnson (early NASA Mathematician) will receive the Maria Mitchell Living Legacy Award (video acceptance)
- Debbie Sterling (Founder and CEO of Goldieblox) will receive the Louise Fitzhugh Living Legacy Award
The de Pizan Honors stand apart from the hundreds of events that honor women—the lives and contributions of the recipients will have a permanent presence, exhibited within the future National Women's History Museum, at the National Mall in Washington, DC. In the interim, while working to get legislation passed that would allow NWHM to build a physical museum, the Honorees are showcased on the NWHM website.
The VIP ticket holders and Sponsors will enjoy a private buffet dinner reception from 5:30pm to 7pm. There will be a general reception from 6:15 to 7pm featuring a photo booth and the mini exhibit: Women of Courage, Conviction, and Commitment. A silent auction will be held at the VIP reception and will open up to the general reception at 6:30pm. The Honors ceremony will begin at 7pm.
